Gadsden State to hire students for Summer Work Program

Gadsden State Community College has received funding from the Alabama Department of Human Resources to employ five area students this summer.

The Summer Work Program will include two positions in the Maintenance Department; and one position each for Adult Education Services, Skills Training Division and the Valley Street Campus.

The summer program will end Aug. 31. Students will be paid $12 an hour for 19 hours per week. Eligible participants must be ages 16 to 24 and have a household income that meets the 2024 Federal Poverty Guidelines, which considers gross annual income and the size of the family unit.

Maintenance employees will be responsible for lawn care and pressure washing. All others will perform general office work such as filing and answering phones.

An application and signed Eligibility and Affirmation form must be completed for consideration.
